Ukuleles in New Zealand, chosen and set up by players

We stock ukuleles the way we stock guitars. Every instrument is checked, tuned and set up before it leaves the shop, prices are in New Zealand dollars with GST included, and you are welcome to sit down and play any of them at our Victoria Park Market shop in Auckland.

Which size do you want?

• Soprano — the smallest, and the sound most people picture when they think of a ukulele: bright, boxy, traditional.
• Concert — a little longer, with a fuller midrange and more room between the frets. Where most adult beginners land.
• Tenor — louder and deeper again, and what most performing players choose.
• Baritone — tuned lower, to DGBE, so a guitarist can pick one up and already know the shapes.

Also worth a look: beginner ukuleles under $300, and electro-acoustic models with a pickup and onboard EQ.

What we carry

The range runs from the $99 Flight travel soprano, through solid-timber Kala and Flight models in every size, up to Martin tenors built in Pennsylvania, where they have been making ukuleles since 1916. Strings, straps, tuners and stands are here too.
