Here on consignment and coming with whole bag of NZ Music history is this early 1964 Fender Stratocaster in refinished Fiesta Red. Purchased new from Sedley Wells music store in Christchurch by NZ rhythm and blues legend Midge Marsden, it's time for this wonderful instrument to find it's new owner.

If you owned a Fender in the early '60s, every muso in town wanted to be your best friend. Such was the case for Midge as this very Stratocaster was his meal ticket to join The Blue Diamonds, who then morphed into Bari and the Breakaways - a beat teen sensation that tore up stages across New Zealand in the mid '60s.

The guitar is mostly original aside from a few things. A professional nitro refinish in it's original colour, a set of repro tuners, a set of vintage style repro saddles, a repro pickguard, the addition of a 5-way pickup switch and a re-fret. Of the three black bobbin pickups, the middle has been rewound by Mr. Glynn, here in Auckland.

The neck is stamped Dec '63 and Stackpole pots date to the third week of 1964, so we are calling it an early 1964 build. Please enquire for photos of internals and visit our Vic Park showroom for a test drive.
