A ukulele with a pickup and onboard preamp, so it can go straight into an amp or a PA without a microphone in front of it. If you play out, run an open mic, or record, this is what you want, and it saves the awkward business of trying to mic a small instrument on a loud stage.

The models here are mostly tenors and concerts, which have the body volume to sound like something unplugged as well. Flight's EQ-A and CE systems and Kala's onboard EQ all give you volume and tone control on the upper bout, with a tuner built in on several models.
