Here on consignment we have a Music Man StingRay II six string guitar, not to be confused with the popular bass of the same name. Music Man was started in the early 70s and was joined by Leo Fender as president in the mid 70s after his non-compete clause expired with CBS/Fender. Still armed with a heavy dose of innovation Leo set about making an extremely versatile guitar and the StingRay II doesn't disappoint. Two active humbuckers are wired with a volume control, a bright switch, a two band active EQ and a four way rotary pickup selector. This pick up selector goes from neck position - bridge position - neck and bridge in parallel - neck and bridge in series, giving a wide palette of sound options to sculpt your sound. A player can easily go from bright cutting tones to hefty wide voicing with the flick of a switch. The shape sits somewhere between a Stratocaster and a liquified telecaster making it a true one off in the journey or Leo Fender.
This guitar shows signs of love/wear and has definitely seen some play. The maple fingerboard is beautifully worn between frets one and five and the frets show moderate wear. The lower bout has arm rub wear through the finish and the back features your classic buckle rash. All original, all the monster tone retained.
