If ever there was a name that is synonymous with the electric guitar it would be the one and only Mark Knopfler. Known for his glistening tones in Dire Straits, his innovative sound is a mixture of this finger style playing and the Fender Stratocaster. Heard in full flight on their 1979 debut single Sultan's of Swing, Knopfler used his 1961 Strat to great effect and introduced himself to the music world as a true virtuoso.
In 2003 Fender released the Mark Knopfler Signature Stratocaster and here we have a fine example from 2005. The body is ash and finished in striking hot rod red nitro lacquer - there is some small hairline cracks in the finish at the base of the upper horn. The '62 C shaped maple neck is thick without being too much of a handful and the rosewood fingerboard is softly rounded and beautifully figured.
Loaded with three Texas Special single coil pickups and a 5-way selector you'll be getting all of the period correct tones on this tribute guitar. The vintage style large block tremolo system delivers more tone and sustain and the headstock is embellished with a signature of the man himself.
