Highly desirable Altman, now commanding a significant premium in price.
This incredible guitar with its’ striking Cocobolo back and sides - sleek mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard 37 style reproduction with a varnish finish not to mention the dynamic range and beautiful recording sound.
2013 Altman AD-2, SN 13113:
Other particulars include, bone nut and ebony pins, fossilised Ivory saddle, 24.34 scale length, nickel frets, with minimal wear, 28 style appointments including Ivoroid binding, Herringbone trim, and Waverly aged nickel tuners.
The neck is 1 3/4 at the nut, and the neck has been modified to a modern Martin neck to accommodate better playability. The bridge spacing is 2 5/16, the action is comfortable, with room to lower the saddle if needed. The condition is excellent, with only a few bumps in the varnish finish.
Like all Altman guitars, the sound is other-worldly, yet reminiscent of the 30’s D28’s tone, with depth and balance across the entire range which is unparalleled. Altman’s have a thicker body to their sound, which is an advantage both live and, in the studio…this beast records beautifully. The dynamic range is huge.
These guitars respond very easily and you don’t have to kill yourself trying to be heard.
